US - To commemorate its 25th anniversary, Buell Motorcycle Co. has updated one of its V-twin powertrains and delved into a new sport bike platform that features a BRP engine.

Buell unveiled the new 1125R, which the company said in a press release “delivers the power of a superbike with the abundant torque characteristics of a V-twin.” The 1125R, powered by a 1125cc DOHC liquid-cooled V-twin that is built by BRP Rotax, is the first model of an all-new Buell platform, according to the press release.

The 1125R is one of nine models in the 2008 lineup that also includes five bikes in the Lightning streetfighter series, the original sportfighter XB12R Firebolt, the XB12X Ulysses adventure-sportbike and the single-cylinder Buell Blast.

The 1125R (MSRP: $11,995) is expected to arrive in dealerships later this year.

Buell also enhanced its Thunderstorm V-Twin powertrain with a series of improvements that are expected to enhance performance and reduce required maintenance.
